Recently, we filmed some “Be the Key” teen safe driving
videos with the students at Glastonbury High School.
While we had a lot of fun with it, it was also a
very serious time, dealing with a serious issue. Teen driving safety is huge
for us and as a community, Glastonbury has been touched personally by a tragedy involving a teen driver.
We don’t want anyone to have to go through that
heartbreak again.
The group that we worked with is now taking part in
State Farm’s “Celebrate My Drive” contest to win a $100,000 grant for
Glastonbury High School. The grant would go towards safe driving and other
initiatives.
Here’s how you can help out.
It is estimated that
Glastonbury needs 500,000 votes to win. The good news is, anyone with an e-mail
address can vote every day for the 10 day contest period (running from Oct. 15
to Oct. 24).
To vote, visit
www.celebratemydrive.com.
You can help out by
liking the Vote GHS Facebook page and spreading the word, and also by coming out to the kick-off event
on Oct. 11 from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. There will be local bands and the event
will be emceed by Joe Furey.
What exactly is
Celebrate My Drive?
It’s communities
celebrating new drivers who make smart driving choices, like 2N2 – 2 eyes on
the road, 2 hands on the wheel. And not to mention, maybe winning some great
prizes for the school.
Let’s do what we can
to get Glastonbury High School the top prize!
