Focus on the BBQ with Monaco Ford

In our continued effort to partner up with other great Connecticut businesses, we jumped in the 2014 Ford Focus Titanium and headed to Bear’s Smokehouse in Windsor.

Once there, we surprised Nick with a challenge of sorts and he needed all his focus to take on a “bear.”

That bear was Jamie “The Bear” McDonald and the challenge was a wing eating contest. What some of you may not know is that Jamie is a competitive eater.

Jamie is the reigning Wing Bowl Champion – he won Wing Bowl 21 by devouring 287 wings in 30 minutes. The total was the second most in Wing Bowl history, trailing only the previous year’s champion Takeru Kobayashi.

Sorry, Nick!

Just prior to Jamie’s Wing Bowl victory, he was declared All Pro Eating’s number one ranked Independent Competitive Eater in the World and Competitive Eating Rookie of the Year. Most recently, Jamie was named the National Hamantaschen Eating champion and new world record holder with 48 in five minutes.

We think he did pretty well and that he maybe has a future in competitive eating!

Monaco Ford and Vito’s By the Park Looking to Energi-ze Your Life

As a business that has been around for a long time, we at Monaco Ford are firm believers in partnering up with other great Connecticut businesses.

This month, I took a 2013 Ford C-Max Energi to Vito's by the Park in Hartford and once I got there, I partnered up with Chef/Owner Rob Maffucci to cook a healthy dish.

It was a lot of fun and for the record, it was delicious.

Want to know what it was and how it turned out? Check out the video.

For the month of March, if you bring a copy of our special “Energi-ze Your Life” page (show it on your smartphone or print a copy) to Vito's by the Park in Hartford, you’ll enjoy 10% off your meal.

In addition, you'll also have secret access to ordering this Monaco special, which doesn’t appear on the menu!

Car a Little Out of Whack?

Winter can be a brutal time for cars.

All the cold, snow, salt – and potholes!

If you want to keep your car running strong – and we know you do – it’s important to maintain it in the winter months.

One good thing to do is check your car’s belts and hoses. You also want to replace the windshield wipers and wiper fluid.

Check your defrosting and heating units, and also put in the right amount of antifreeze. You will also want to check your oil, oil viscosity, and battery.

Before heading out this winter, you should check your tire pressure and consider putting snow tires on the car. Throughout the season, you’ll also want to make sure the tires are maintained.

To protect and preserve the body of your car, you’ll want to make sure that you wash it regularly to remove all the salt – preventing future rust.

Is it just me, or do the potholes seem to be worse this year?

We’ve all hit some that have made our teeth chatter. After hitting a big one - or several smaller ones - there could be damage to the steering, suspension, and alignment systems.

If you experience loss of control, swaying when making routine turns, bottoming out on city streets, or bouncing excessively on rough roads, you may have a steering or suspension issue.

You may notice pulling in one direction and uneven tire wear. These could be symptoms of an alignment problem.

Not sure what’s wrong?

Call our factory-trained technicians at 860-652-3000. They can make sure your steering, suspension, alignment – and everything else – are in tip-top shape.
