Surfs Up!

What do people use their mobile devices for? Pretty much everything these days, right?

We check our mobile devices constantly and they are where we turn to for information, our friends, the environment around us, a personal assistant, and shopping.

An estimated 20 percent of all Internet traffic comes from a mobile device. Some consumers even say they will rarely use a desktop or laptop computer to go online.

In 2013, 55 percent of all retail-related online time was from tablets and smartphones, while the remaining 45 percent originated from desktop computers.

During the second quarter of 2013, the amount spent in mobile commerce totaled $4.7 billion, or 8.6% of the entire U.S. e-commerce market for that time period. On top of that, between the second quarter of 2012 and the same period of 2013, m-commerce revenue grew at a rate of 24%, compared to 16% in the e-commerce market as a whole.

That's a lot of surfing!
