The Ford F150, F250, and F350

We all know that Ford trucks are capable, durable, and are used by millions of people.

But do you know all about the F150, F250, and F350?

The F-150 can haul more cargo (maximum 3,120 pounds) than any of its competitors and has huge Class V trailer towing capability (maximum 11,300 pounds). With a rugged fully boxed frame as the foundation of its Built Ford Tough engineering, the F-150 is tested under the harshest real-world conditions to deliver the capability you expect, day in and day out.

The F-150 continues its tradition of delivering the best-in-class maximum payload capability of 3,120 pounds. And that’s not all. The available tailgate step and box side steps, both class-exclusive features, provide easy access to all that payload.

Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and Roll Stability Control automatically employs its two gyroscopic sensors to measure vehicle roll and turning rates, then selectively applies individual brakes and modifies engine power to help keep all four wheels firmly planted. And it all happens instantaneously, faster than you can blink an eye.

Trailer sway control builds on the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system to help maintain trailer control through selective braking and adjusted engine power. The result is noticeable stability and control, which provides greater driver confidence when towing large loads.

The electronic-locking rear differential, when engaged, locks the rear axle completely to provide enhanced traction at both rear wheels at the same time. The electronic-locking rear differential is fully integrated with the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system to deliver excellent control when traveling on- or off-road. It’s standard on the FX4, SVT Raptor and Limited, included in the Off-Road Package, and available on all other 4x2 and 4x4 models.

The F-150 offers an available fully integrated trailer brake controller. This first-in-class feature synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking (even with the heaviest loads) to provide added driving control and confidence.

The extensive use of high-strength steel, high-performance components and computer-aided engineering goes into producing the rugged frame that’s the backbone of the Built Ford Tough F-150. Collapsible front horns offer occupant protection by absorbing crash energy to help prevent intrusion into the cabin. The frame is fully boxed from front to rear with extensive use of high-strength steel.

All crossmembers are fully boxed for lateral rigidity and to allow for frame flex. When the frame is more rigid, the suspension can perform better. Crossmembers go through the frame and are welded on both the outside and inside for a strong connection. The center crossmember contributes to outstanding towing and is lowered to allow for a flat load floor.
Pickups are often called on to carry big loads under a variety of driving conditions. That’s why Ford engineers gave the F-150 a wide-track Hotchkiss-design rear suspension. The 2-stage, 64.5-inch leaf springs enhance lateral compliance, while the 3-inch width of the springs provides excellent cornering and control when towing.

What’s more, the shocks are mounted outboard of the frame rails to reduce body lean and enhance cornering control.

More than ever, with today’s high prices at the pump, you need to operate as efficiently as possible, but not at the expense of power. That’s why the Ford F-150 offers the available 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine, designed with direct-injection technology and twin turbocharging to optimize power and fuel economy.

Need something a little bigger? Consider the F250 or F350 Super Duty trucks.

The Ford Super Duty engine is a new, larger turbocharger for greater on-demand performance. The surface area of the compressor vane is larger for exhaust gases to turn the compressor, permitting lower boost pressure and eliminating the wastegate.

A new fuel pump and injectors for more power and reduced emissions and a new temperature control system allows for enhanced turbo efficiency and performance.

The graphite iron engine block is stronger yet lighter than cast iron. Aluminum cylinder heads with precision dual water jackets reduce weight and improve cooling. The high-pressure common-rail induction system delivers up to five injections per combustion cycle for optimum throttle response and fuel efficiency, as well as reduced noise, vibration and harshness. Instant-start glow plugs provide quick start-ups, even at extremely low temperatures.

The trucks offer a standard 6.2L V8 with best-in-class gas horsepower and torque. And for applications calling for the unique severe-duty strength and dependability of a diesel, the next generation of the Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 for 2015 delivers higher performance ratings than ever. When you need power on demand, the next generation of the available Ford-built 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel generates more than ever.

The standard 6.2L gas V8 and available 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 are engineered for power and efficiency. For diesel fuel economy, the Power Stroke is best-in-class. While these engines are light in weight, they’re big in towing, hauling, torque, horsepower and all-around toughness. The state-of-the-art emissions system of the 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 combines industry-proven technology and Ford-designed innovations to exceed the latest federal emissions standards.

Compressed natural gas and liquid propane gas are becoming increasingly popular choices for those looking to help cut fuel costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why the 6.2L V8-powered Super Duty offers the CNG/LPG Gaseous Engine Prep Package. Included are hardened exhaust valves and valve seats for improved wear resistance and durability for gaseous fuel systems.

The powerful 6.2L V8 is flex-fuel capable, so you can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (up to 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline), or any mix of the two. Fuel injection and spark timing are adjusted according to the blend detected by electronic sensors. Also, the 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 is B20 (biodiesel) capable.

Delivering huge towing capability didn’t satisfy the Ford engineers who worked to make the 2015 Super Duty not just more capable, but the best in its class.

The F-350 dual-rear-wheel 4x4s offer a new High-Capacity Trailer Tow Package with features such as a wide-track front axle.

Trailer sway control builds on the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control system to help maintain trailer control through selective braking and adjusted engine power. The result is noticeable stability and control, which provides greater driver confidence when towing large loads.
